If you are struggling to get protein into your diet and think you have to sit down to 4 steaks in order to get it, think again! There are a lot of ways you can add healthy protein to your diet, including with breakfast. All you have to do is make sure you eat the right foods and take some time to plan your meals. This won’t mean spending hours mapping out your dishes; it just means knowing which foods will benefit you the most.
1. Make Pancakes!
There are actually pancake mixes you can get that have protein already in them. All you have to do is add some water and put these in the pan to cook them up. These only take around 5 minutes to prepare and really taste great. If you want to add even more protein, you can add a tablespoon of peanut butter and enjoy having a lot of good nutrients.
2. Eat Eggs
Eggs are packed full of protein and are low in calories. Even if you don’t have a lot of time in the morning it only takes a few minutes to prepare some eggs. Add some cheese, low-fat meat, and a low carb wrap to make your breakfast complete. You can even take something like this on the go, which is something most people can use these days.
3. Make a Smoothie
Smoothies are really good for you and can be packed full of protein as well. In order to make a healthy protein, start out with a handful of spinach in your blender. From here add in your choice of frozen fruits and a scoop or two of your favorite protein powder. After this you can add in almond milk or water to make sure everything gets blended well. There are tons of different recipes you can make and they all take around 2 minutes to whip up. You can pour this in a to-go bottle and enjoy smoothies at any time!
4. Oatmeal with Protein Power
If you enjoy eating oatmeal in the morning, you can easily add protein to it. The way to do this is by grabbing your favorite protein powder and adding it in. Just make sure you add more water, as the protein powder will thicken up the oatmeal. If you add in some berries as well you will have sweetness without a bunch of added calories or sugars.
5. Protein Bar
If you are really late one day and need to get going, simply grab a protein bar. This can be eaten whether you’re in the car or on the train because it’s so portable. Just make sure you check carbohydrates, sugars and calories in the bar you choose so you don’t eat something that will ruin your day. There are a lot of healthy protein bars, but some of them can be bad for you because of their sugars.
– Mix things up and try out different breakfasts throughout the week. It will be worth it to wake up five minutes early and will save you money in the long run.
– Some breakfasts, like egg wraps, can be made ahead of time and frozen. Then all you have to do in the morning is take it out of the plastic and microwave before you leave.
